Rosewood / Stevenson University Sports Complex
Contracted to help transform the former Rosewood Mental Hospital into Stevenson University’s state-of-the art sports complex, Utilities Unlimited, Inc. is responsible for the construction of underground water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure, along with numerous stormwater management facilities, underground cast-in-place concrete sand filters, and double box culverts for future roadways.
The 110+ acre Rosewood Center property was originally established as a residential asylum and training school for the mentally disabled in 1888 and was in operation until 2009 when it was closed by the State of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Using state grants, Stevenson University has been remediating the abandoned land and developing it into what will be known as their Owings Mills East campus — the university’s new athletic and recreational hub.
